RESPECT:
Training with a dojo mate provides an opportunity to find out whether or not those techniques they practice actually work against an opponent. This practical application is incredibly valuable if you are ever face with the need to use these skills. As a sign of respect, students are required to bow to their partners at the beginning of their training session together. This courtesy also applies in tournament fighting, as without an opponent, how would you be able to compete and test your fighting abilities? It would be impossible! We strive to teach our students the value of respect. We believe that it is our mandate to contribute to our society.

SELF-ESTEEM:
Often times, individuals who join a martial art are looking to improve themselves. They somehow feel that they are not adequate in some way.  This is where a valuable piece of the training puzzle comes into play - self-esteem. Over time, as each new technique is mastered and each new goal is achieved, a person's self-image improves. With the support of their family, friends, fellow students and instructors, they learn that they are able to accomplish anything that they set their minds to. This new self-esteem follows them outside the dojo, where they continue to challenge themselves and realize their full potential.

UNITY:
Although Kyokushin Karate is perceived by many to be an individual pursuit, there is an incredible unity within our classes and organization. This is evident at the different events such as a tournament and a training camp. You will see students laughing together moments after they fought, you will see them helping each other learn new techniques or shouting out encouragement to their friends as they compete. It is here that we see the true value of our training. This support and encouragement helps to create children and youths that are well balanced, respectful and helpful within our society. In short, through training, we are making this world a better place, one person at a time.

SELF-DEFENSE:
It is apparent that the number of life threatening incidents increases each year. Self-Defence Techni-ques plays a very important role in our class. At an entry level, a student learns basic karate movements called Kihon; coupled with several different stances, he or she studies how to effectively deliver basic punches, kicks and blocks. Then, they proceed to Moving Basics or Ido, where they gain knowledge of various footwork combinations. Now, they are ready to learn Kata. At that time, they also acquire Self-Defence moves based on Kihon and Ido. We offer well organized training methods, which eventually provide students with a mastery of karate techniques.
